3 -to try-
Nota d'usoa to try to do st. esprime il tentativo, lo sforzo di fare qualcosa: I'll try to fix it, proverò ad aggiustarlo, cercherò di aggiustarlo. In alcuni casi è possibile usare la forma to try and: We should try and help them, dovremmo cercare di aiutarli. La costruzione to try and è considerata più informale ed è usata unicamente quando to try si trova nella sua forma base, non declinata, quindi solo all'imperativo e all'infinito o dopo un verbo modale; perciò una frase come Try and come!, prova a venire! è corretta, mentre We tried and helped her e He is trying and studying harder non sono frasi accettabili.b to try doing st. indica il tentativo di fare qualcosa per vedere se è utile o efficace, o se funziona: Try turning it this way, prova a girarlo da questa parte; Next time why don't you try asking him more politely?, la prossima volta perché non provi a chiederglielo in modo più cortese?; Try putting some fresh basil in the sauce, it's delicious!, prova a mettere un po' di basilico fresco nel sugo; è squisito! -

Русскому глаголу ходить соответствуют английские глаголы to go и to walk. Глагол to go в этом значении относится к глаголам, которые не употребляются без обстоятельственных слов (обстоятельства места, образа действия) в отличие от глагола to walk, который этого не требует: to go slowly, to go there, to go there right away. Ребенок уже ходит — The baby can walk.
— Shall we walk or go by bus?
It is already late and I must go — Мне уже пора идти/уходить.

I will do smth He is tired of taking a bus every morning, so he is going to buy a car.
That's exactly what I was going to say.
Cp. There is something wrong with the lock. Could you help me? — Certainly, I will try and fix it after dinner.

¿To see, to watch o to look?
A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps.
I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Igualmente puede indicar el paso del tiempo (we watched the animals playing for half an hour, durante media hora observamos cómo jugaban los animales), movimiento (they stood there watching the cars drive off into the distance, se quedaron allí de pie viendo cómo se marchaban los coches) o vigilancia (the policemen have been watching this house because they thought we were thieves, los policías estaban vigilando la casa porque pensaban que éramos ladrones).
Para hablar de películas u obras de teatro usamos to see: Have you seen Hamlet?, ¿Has visto Hamlet? To watch se refiere a la televisión y los deportes en general: I always watch the television in the evening. Siempre veo la televisión por las noches. I like to watch football. Me gusta ver el fútbol. Al hablar de programas o partidos específicos podemos usar tanto to watch como to see: I like to see/watch the news at 9:00. Me gusta ver las noticias a las 9.00. Did you see/watch the match last night?, ¿Viste el partido anoche?
